As a result of the widespread interest that has been taken in my method of child education, certain books have been issued, which may appear to the general reader to be authoritative expositions of the Montessori system. I wish to state definitely that the present work, the English translation of which has been authorised and approved by me, is the only authentic manual of the Montessori method, and that the only other authentic or authorised works of mine in the English language are “The Montessori Method,” and “Pedagogical Anthropology.”

This Amazon Kindle book is an utter disgrace and does not do Dr. Montessori's work any justice. Providing it as a free offer does not mean you have to deprive the reader of all the illustrations originally included in the handbook and indispensable for the correct application of the education method. My negative rating relates to the Amazon's poor, incomplete book offer and not to Dr. Montessori's contents. Many readers voiced similar complaints in their reviews years ago and yet the ebook got never updated to its entire original contents.Product details

I am a strong believer in Dr Montessori, however this item should be banished as it is available free for download at other websites. Also this item lacks all of the images, but fails to clearly state this.
Insights into the Montessori method, including specifics and theory. A good overview of what children want and need to grow holistically.
Montessori gives a detail view of children's behavior from almost a century ago that still applies today. She describes how to enhance the child's practical life skills, math, language, & behavior with the child' interest as the primary focus.
Recommended for every parent in addition to all teachers!
read this in hardback from the Free Library of Phila 44 years ago then bought it paperback, this is a great help for homeschoolers and teachers. I was a homeschooler before it was popular and this book and others of hers and people who used Montessori theory for teaching are a must have for anyone interested in early learning and providing visual understanding for higher math, etc. with pre teens and high school students. Even some MENSA level souls need Montessori visual and touch learning.
This book is great for explaining the very basics of the montessori manipulatives and their primary function. it's good for background and knowledge into Montessori's methods and thinking (for primary aged children). It is NOT, however, a how to or instruction guide for Montessori. you won't gleen much about how to use things (other than one or maybe two basic functions) from this book. for that you need montessori albums, which will cost you a considerable amount of money.
i think this book is useful to people wanting to know more about Montessori and how she came up with the manips themselves or saw the children react to them but if you're trying to emulate the montessori method in your home and need more information, your money would be better spent elsewhere. for that i would recommend Teaching Montessori in the Home by Elizabeth Hainstock.
